Initial Mathematics Placement is done via SAT Math score and online placement tests.
Initial Placement
- SAT Math ≥ 550: May enroll in MAT 1010, 1020, 1025, 1035, & STT 2820
- SAT Math < 550: Must successfully complete MAT 0010 before enrolling in any "ND" course. (*)
(*) You may take an online placement test at Appalachian to place into 1010, 1020, 1025, 1035 & STT 2820.
*Prior to March 2016 if SAT score is >520 May enroll in MAT 1010, 1020, 1025, 1035, & STT 2820.
Calculus Placement
- ASU Calculus Readiness Test ≥ 12 May enroll in MAT 1110
Students who score 11 or fewer correct on the Calculus Readiness test will be eligible to participate in ALEKS. More information and a link to ALEKS is on the AsULearn site.
