Special Opportunities for Students
- Departmental Tea (every Thursday,
2:45-3:30PM, third floor lobby by elevator).
Students are encouraged to attend and socialize.
- Departmental Colloquia (many Thursdays at 4:00 PM, after the Tea),
often topics are appropriate for undergraduate students.
- Teaching Seminar (every
Tuesday, 4:00-5:00 PM, third floor of Walker Hall),
often topics are appropriate for undergraduate students.
- Virginia Tech Mathematics Contest (November).
- Putnam Mathematics Examination
(December; register with Dr. Greg Rhoads).
- COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modeling
(second weekend in February).
- Math Club: meets every other Wednesday at
6:00 PM. (See the bulletin board in the third
floor lobby of Walker Hall.)
- PTMA: Prospective Teachers of
Mathematics Association: regular meetings throughout the year.
