The courses are taught on campus at Appalachian in Walker Hall during the summer and remotely (usually at the Hickory Metropolitan Higher Education Center) in the evenings during the academic year. Schedule of Planned Graduate Courses

CI/SPE 5045 Advanced Topics in Diversity (3): A framework of theories on diversity and multicultural issues is constructed in this course.

CI/LHE 5585Teacher Leadership and School Improvement (3): This course is designed to help teachers develop an understanding of and skill in assuming leadership roles and responsibilities in their schools.

MAT 5910 Investigation in the Teaching of Mathematics (2): An examination of recent research and experimental programs in the teaching of secondary school mathematics.

MAT 5920 Linear Algebra for Teachers (4): Elementary concepts from linear algebra are extended to a rigorous level of proof

MAT 5930 Analysis for Teachers (4): Elementary concepts from calculus are extended to a treatment of fundamental concepts from analysis.

MAT 5950 Mathematical Models - Analytical Models and MAT 5951 Mathematical Models - Empirical Models (4): A sequence of mathematical modeling courses designed to introduce students to applications from business and the sciences.

MAT 5525 Product of Learning (1-3): A capstone project which connects the student's studies back to the classroom situation.

Students will work with their advisors to determine the appropriate electives. Suggested electives include: MAT 5941, MAT 5970, MAT 5952 and MAT 5980. Students may count no more than 15 hours of 5980 towards their degree. Students may, with permission, take up to 3 hours outside of mathematical sciences. Students should receive approval prior to enrolling in any elective courses.
