What she does:
- She teaches at Stanly Community College, a job she began after graduating. She says, "I ended up liking it here more than I thought I would."
Math on the job:
- Melissa says that, "The computer classes definately helped, since I have to design online classes and the history of math course ended up being more useful than I thought it would be."
Education:
- She completed her bachelor's degree in applied mathematics with a minor in business and cs. She then obtained a master's in mathematics, also from Appalachian.
- As an employee, she is allowed to take a free class each semester, and she has been taking advantage of this opportunity. Stanly Community College may pay for her to obtain another master's degree.
Advice for students:
- She advises, "Do your homework and ask questions!"
