What he does:
- Jeremy is enrolled at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he is working on his PhD in mathematics with a minor in physics. He has done research on micro-lenses with the physics department and is currently conducting research in stochastic analysis. He has taught part-time at Davidson County Community College and full-time at Forsyth Technical Community College.
Math on the job:
- He says that his mathematical background has helped him in teaching mathematics and in doing research in the field.
Education:
- Jeremy completed a bachelor's degree in mathematics with a concentration in physics and minors in business and statistics. He stayed on at Appalachian for graduate school and obtained a master's degree in math.
- His favorite experiences at ASU in mathematics were the COMPAQ Modeling Contests, the Problem Solving Seminars in preparation for the VA Tech and Putnam Exams, and courses in Differential Equations, Applied Mathematics, Analysis and Numerical Analysis.
Advice for students:
- Jeremy says, "Take Differential Equations and a full year of Analysis as far as courses go regardless of which degree you are seeking. Look for possible research problems to work with. Also, try to get a CO-OP as soon as possible."
