Department of Mathematical Sciences

Department colloquia and seminars. Normally Fridays (at 3) and Mondays (at 5), resp. Also check the lounge for current announcements.

Department Student/Faculty Tea. Come and join us for tea, hot chocolate, and cookies or other good stuff. Tea is from 2:45 to 3:30 pm each Thursday afternoon in the third floor 'Elevator Lobby' of Walker Hall.

Student Organizations and Activities.  

Summer Math Camp. The department will sponsor Math Camp, a summer enrichment experience for rising 6th through 12th graders. under the direction of Dr. Anita Kitchens, the camp is designed to actively engage students in mathematics. Students who love math, hate math, fear math, excel at math and/or need help with math are all welcome to apply. For more information see Conferences and Institutes.

Math Education Leadership Training (MELT) Institutes. The department will be sponsoring workshops again this summer via the MELT Program.

Announcing Scholarships for Prospective Students. We are proud to announce the availability of scholarships for new and continuing students interested in majoring in mathematics or statistics! Students interested in applying may read more on our Scholarship Page.

The Jimmy Smith - Bill Paul Endowment. Professional Development awards to enhance mathematics instruction are available from the Smith/Paul Endowment. Grants are made to financially support North Carolina mathematics teachers who are in their first five years of teaching.
